A Message from our President and CEO:
As we look back on 2024, I am filled with deep gratitude for your trust in the Scranton Area Community Foundation and for your shared commitment to building a stronger, more vibrant Northeastern Pennsylvania.
This past year reminded us of the power of working together. Whether expanding access to education and healthcare or championing innovative ideas that uplift our communities, your generosity and belief in our mission have made meaningful, lasting change possible.
This year was especially significant as we proudly celebrated our 70th anniversary—a moment to honor our legacy and the many people who helped shape it. For seven decades, the Foundation has stood as a pillar of hope, investing in bold ideas and trusted partnerships that meet our region’s evolving needs. This milestone is not just a celebration of our past—it’s a promise for the future.
Looking ahead, we are excited to share that we will move into the historic Century Club of Scranton in 2025. This beautiful new space will be more than just a home for the Foundation—it will serve as a collaborative hub where ideas are nurtured, partnerships are strengthened, and opportunities for impact take root.
In 2024, we continued to build on the momentum of NEPA Thrives, our community-driven effort to create greater economic opportunity for families across Northeastern Pennsylvania.
This initiative brings together nonprofits, businesses, schools, and local government leaders to work toward shared goals. By working collaboratively, we’re helping to remove barriers and strengthen systems so that more people in our region can find good jobs, support their families, and thrive.
Because of this work—and our ongoing commitment to equity—the Scranton Area Community Foundation was honored to be one of only ten foundations nationwide selected to join the advanced cohort of the Economic Mobility Action Network, a prestigious initiative led by CFLeads and funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This opportunity brings together foundations from across the country to accelerate strategies that advance equitable economic mobility. Through this national partnership, we are strengthening our region’s economic mobility plan and working toward long-term solutions that reflect the unique needs of our community. With support from national partners and our growing network of local nonprofit organizations, we are scaling impact in meaningful, strategic ways.
At the core of our work is a belief in the potential of every individual. We are committed to listening with intention, responding with care, and investing with purpose—so that everyone in our region has the opportunity to thrive.
As we step into 2025, I am inspired by the possibilities ahead. With your continued support, we will build upon the momentum of this past year to shape a future defined by generosity, equity, and shared opportunity.
