The Scranton Area Community Foundation is now hiring a Communications Manager to join its dedicated team. This full-time position is responsible for managing the Foundation’s communication and media strategy, including social media and other online communications (i.e. websites, etc.); writing, creating, and developing print and electronic donor and stakeholder communications; and developing marketing content and design for special projects. The Communications Manager reports to the Director of Donor Relations and Communications and works closely with all departments and team members at the Foundation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement communications strategies to effectively convey the mission and activities of the foundation to various audiences
- Manage and update content for the foundation’s website, social media platforms, and newsletters
- Produce engaging and informative content, including press releases, newsletters, reports, feature articles, and marketing materials
- Develop and oversee email marketing via MailChimp
- Assist in planning and coordinating public events and press conferences
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistency in external communications
- Assist in designing and creating engaging and informative content for various marketing channels, including social media, website, newsletters, and press releases
- Design and curate content for our social media platforms
- Monitor social media channels, engage with the community, and respond to inquiries
- Understand current trends in social media and how to leverage these topics to create current and engaging content for our social media pages
- Have a great understanding of post scheduling and the ability to create a posting protocol to ensure ongoing and consistent content across
- Provide support for fundraising and development campaigns
- Support the planning and execution of marketing campaigns and events
- Collaborate with team members to develop creative materials for campaigns
- Utilize Graphic Design skills for requested marketing collateral
- Create visually appealing graphics and promotional materials
- Work with design tools to maintain brand consistency
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in communications, public relations, journalism, graphic design, copywriting, or a similar role
- Excellent writing and editing skills with attention to detail
- Strong proficiency in digital media and social media platforms
- Proficiency in content management systems and graphic design tools is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to complete projects in requested time frames
- Experience in creating media releases, newsletter content, and other copy
- Experience in working with the media is preferred.
Schedule
This is a full-time position Monday through Friday between 9 am. and 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend events may be required. The position will be in our Scranton-based office with the ability to work from home two days per week.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range $50,000-$55,000 depending on experience. Position includes premium health, dental, and vision insurance benefits with modest cost-share by employee. Insurances begin on the first day of the month following the employee’s start date. Short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance benefits included which begin six (6) months following the employee’s start date. Contributions into a pension plan (SEP-IRA) are also included. Competitive time off policy offered.
