The Scranton Area Community Foundation, along with the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce, will be hosting a meet & greet event at the Scranton Chamber of Commerce Building on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. to demonstrate how local businesses can get involved in NEPA Gives 2022 (taking place on Friday, June 3, 2022) through a Business Fundraiser. Business Fundraisers are an opportunity for local businesses in NEPA to join together to show support for their favorite local charitable organizations. At this event, representatives from area businesses will learn how to set up a Business Fundraiser page that can benefit the business internally through boosting morale, engagement, and teamwork, and externally through showing community impact, and increasing the business’s visibility and reputation. This event aims to take participants through the steps to successfully prepare a Business Fundraising campaign from start to finish, including registration, preparation, and NEPA Gives Day.

Members of the media are invited to attend to cover the event and NEPA Gives announcements. NEPA Gives is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 3, 2022. Promoted as the single largest day of philanthropy in Northeastern Pennsylvania, last year, NEPA Gives made history by raising a total of $1.2 million for 218 local nonprofit organizations. Over 5,700 donors generously supported NEPA Gives in 2021. NEPA Gives 2021 was also generously supported by numerous sponsors including Moses Taylor Foundation, DiscoverNEPA, Cumulus Media, Shamrock Communications, Hawk Family Foundation, Schwartz Mack Foundation, Women in Philanthropy, the NEPA Animal Welfare Collaborative, the William G. McGowan Charitable Fund, and many others. Over $450,000 in prizes and matching incentives were awarded to participating nonprofits for notable achievements in 2021, all sponsored by generous businesses, foundations, and donors across the region. In 2021, Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti made an official proclamation declaring June 4, 2021, as NEPA Gives Day to celebrate the historical and monumental giving day. This year will be the third year for NEPA Gives across the region.
