Women in Philanthropy’s Spring Quarterly Meeting will take place on Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 5:30 – 7:30 PM at the Century Club in Scranton. More information will be announced soon.
Johnson College hosted STEM event, made possible through Women in Philanthropy!
To coincide with International Women’s Day, on March 8, Johnson College hosted Girls on Fire, a unique one-day STEM event for 6-9th grade students in Lackawanna County to learn about career opportunities in non-traditional STEM fields. Johnson College had been awarded a $5,000 grant from Women in Philanthropy to make this event possible.
    

International Women’s Day, which takes place annually on March 8, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. Thanks to your generous and continuous support, Women in Philanthropy is truly empowering and transforming the lives of women, girls, and their families in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Laura Ducceschi receives ATHENA Award during International Women’s Day Luncheon
Scranton Area Community Foundation’s President and CEO, Laura Ducceschi, was presented with the 2023 ATHENA Leadership Award during the International Women’s Day Luncheon on Wednesday, March 8, at Marywood University hosted by the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce.

To date, Women in Philanthropy has provided:
- Over $100,000 to local nonprofit organizations helping women, girls, and their families!
 - $25,000 in full “STEAM Stars” Scholarships to the nationally recognized Level Up Program!
 - Loan capital and training support to help launch nearly 15 women-owned businesses in NEPA!
 - $300,000 has been matched to 125 graduates in the Financial Confidence program!
 - Improved transportation access to health services!
 - Educational resources to advance voter education and promote voter registration!
 - And much, much more!
 
      
Now accepting grant applications!
Thanks to your generosity, Women in Philanthropy is now accepting grant applications from 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and educational institutions for its 2023 grant cycle. Grant requests for 2023 must cover projects in one or more of the following focus areas:- Civic Engagement & Advocacy
 - Financial Education
 - Housing
 - Childcare
 - Mental Health
 - STEAM Education
