Scranton Area Community Foundation Board Updates
Welcome, Dr. Frantz, to the Board of Governors!
Dr. Bryan Frantz, DDS, is joining the Scranton Area Community Foundation Board of Governors for his first term.
Dr. Frantz is a board-certified periodontist practicing in Scranton. He earned his BA from the University of Rochester, his dental degree from Temple University, and a Periodontal Specialty Certificate from the Eastman Institute for Oral Health. Board certified by the American Board of Periodontology since 1994, he has served on the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) Foundation Board of Trustees since 2012, chaired key committees, and led the Academy during the COVID-19 crisis. Additionally, Dr. Frantz currently serves on the board of the Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Scranton.
Dr. Frantz was honored with the AAP Distinguished Service Award in 2022 and the Gold Medal Award in 2023 for his contributions to Periodontology.
He is married to Dr. Linda Sebastian Frantz, MD, and they have three daughters, Andrea, Kristen, and Gretchen, along with three grandchildren, Madison, Michael, and Adelina.
Scranton Area Community Foundation Staff Updates
We are excited to welcome Brad Reid as our new Philanthropy Manager!
Brad will oversee our diverse range of charitable funds at the Foundation and engage with donors to drive impact in our community.
With over 15 years of experience in higher education at Lackawanna College and Marywood University, Brad brings strong skills in community engagement, development, and partnership building. He holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Marywood University.
He has served on nonprofit boards, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Northern Tier and the Northern Tier Workforce Development Board.
As a lifelong resident of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Brad is passionate about uplifting local communities and looks forward to contributing to the Foundation’s mission, collaborating with community partners, and serving the Foundation’s charitable donors.

We are excited to welcome Jacob Torba as our new Philanthropy Associate!
Jacob will work closely with our team and engage with our charitable donors and fund advisors who want to make a difference in our community.
Jacob, a Moosic, Pennsylvania native, graduated from Riverside Jr. Sr. High School. Jacob began his over six years of experience in the nonprofit sector as Fundraising Coordinator at Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, where his passion to improve his local community was sparked.
A Moosic native and Riverside Jr. Sr. High School graduate, Jacob has over six years of nonprofit experience, starting in fundraising at Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, where his passion for community improvement began. A graduate of Leadership Lackawanna’s TLT and Core Program, Jacob is dedicated to building donor relationships and advancing sustainable philanthropic initiatives for lasting community impact.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, solving escape rooms with his partner, and caring for their two cats.

We are excited to welcome Mary Joyce as our new Communications Manager!
Mary joins our team as our Communications Manager, working closely with our team and our Director of Donor Relations and Communications to manage our print and digital communications efforts.
Born and raised in Scranton, Mary is a 2020 Penn State University graduate, earning a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations with minors in Digital Media Trends & Analytics and Psychology.
With a background in journalism, social media, public relations and digital marketing, Mary brings a multifaceted approach to her role at the Foundation. She believes compelling storytelling is vital in every aspect of communications, allowing organizations to resonate with their audiences and create meaningful connections.
