In 2009 the Fendrock family began to recognize graduating students of Carbondale Area Jr./Sr. High School (CAHS) with an annual scholarship. That scholarship was endowed in November 2021 with the creation of the Fendrock Family Fund. The Fund will support, via financial awards, graduating CAHS students who pursue post-secondary education. The Fund is named for John J. and Cecelia (Stefanides) Fendrock, the six children they raised in their home at 32 Reservoir Street, Simpson, PA, and their descendants. The formal education of John and Cecelia ended with grade school, but their belief in the importance of lifelong learning is their legacy.
