Starting on February 1st, 2022, The Scranton Area Community Foundation invites students to apply online for eligible scholarship opportunities through our online scholarship portal. Through the Scranton Area Community Foundation, over $800,000 in scholarship funding is available to eligible students seeking to continue their education. This year, over 60 scholarships are available to high school and college students for a variety of studies and interests, including (but not limited to):
- Volunteer Based Scholarships
- Athletic Scholarships
- Merit-based Scholarships
- Technical School Scholarships
- And many more!

Students applying for scholarships can easily see which opportunities they are eligible for by complete one universal application through our online scholarship portal! Now Accepting Applications for the 2022 James F. Swift Scholarship!
The Scranton Area Community Foundation is also now accepting applications for the prestigious James F. Swift Scholarship, which provides local high school seniors graduating from a Lackawanna County high school $5,000 per year for each recipient for up to four years to assist with continuing education expenses. Twenty area students are annually selected for this prestigious scholarship through the James F. Swift Scholarship Fund administered by the Scranton Area Community Foundation. Applications for the 2022 James F. Swift Scholarship will be accepted from now until 4:00 p.m. ET on March 14, 2022. Additional eligibility information and the application page can be found here.

Northeastern Pennsylvania Health Care Foundation Careers in Care Scholarship Applications Open February 1st!
Careers in Care Nursing Scholarships are available to students in Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Wyoming Counties who plan to pursue, or who are pursuing, nursing and who will practice in Northeastern Pennsylvania. To qualify for Careers in Care Nursing Scholarships, individuals are required to show that they have had a permanent address in Lackawanna, Luzerne, or Wyoming County for the last three years. Scholarships are available to those who are:
- Looking to obtain a CNA or LPN and entering the healthcare workforce
- Currently employed in the healthcare field and looking to advance as an LPN, RN/BSN, or Masters Level
- Students in their third or fourth year of a four-year nursing degree and looking for financial assistance
- ‘Nontraditional’ students or those looking to go back to school to obtain any nursing certification or degree
